FBL Virtual Global WIL Program
About the program

Postgraduate students are invited to join the exciting Virtual Global Work Integrated Learning Program in June 2022. Run in conjunction with Symbiosis University in India, the program will run for a three week period, where students will work on an international business consultancy project virtually.

Projects for T2 2022 will be based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) and will be with community or not-for-profit organisations. You will work as part of a consultancy team to develop the best outcome for the overseas based clients.

What is a Business Consultant? Business Consultants are usually responsible for identifying areas of a business model that could be improved, and strategising how that improvement could be executed.  You will be required to listen to a real client with a real business problem as you will be tasked with doing research, looking at the problem from every angle and coming up with recommendations to address the problem for the client.  Projects vary but they are often mult-disciplinary which will require input from all members of a team calling on individual's expertise.  This will almost certainly be challenging, particularly given the intensive mode and timeframe.  It will no doubt be a high pressure environment at times as you work to a tight timeline to ensure that the project delivered addresses the client's expectations.  Are you up for the challenge?

Each project is sourced by Deakin Business School to ensure sound academic content together with deep engagement between Deakin students, their industry professional and the academic supervisor. All components are structured carefully taking into consideration industry feedback to develop students’ transferable skills which are highly sought after by employers. Additionally, students will be able to put their knowledge into practice and gain valuable experience.

Each team will be supported by Deakin staff who will manage the program and facilitate client meetings.

Activities:
  • Deakin and Symbiosis University academic workshops
  • Business consulting meetings with host company
  • Meetings with industry experts
  • Client presentations

Location:
Note that the program will be completed entirely online.

The program will require a part-time commitment from Monday to Friday each week during the afternoon and evening. Groups may also be required to work outside business hours or on weekends to meet project deadlines and attend meetings with the company.

Program Dates:
Monday 20 June - Friday 8 July 2022.

Students will be required to participate 3 full days each week over the 3 week program.

The program will be considered a Trimester 2 unit enrolment and the result for the unit will be released during T2 results release.
