IMPORTANT NOTE: Given the current situation with the coronavirus, Deakin has decided to ban all student and staff travel overseas until the 30th of April to mitigate any associated risks. It is unclear what the policy might be after April and therefore we are unable to accept formal applications for this program. We will only acceIndividual) – Attendance and participation in seminars and field visits 

Combining insightful lectures, corporate visits and cultural activities, the program is open to undergraduate students studying Law. Teaching will be carried out by The Honourable Justice Joshua Wilson and guest professors in the UK in three distinct locations: London, Oxford and Cambridge. Topics will primarily revolve around:
  • The genesis of Australian Law
  • A comparative perspective on the operation of the justice systems in the UK and Australia on various legal aspects
You will travel in a group and will be supported by Deakin staff who will manage the program and facilitate corporate visits, lectures and social activities.

Note:Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview.

London/Oxford/Cambridge, England 
  • Corporate visits examples: House of Parliament, Royal Courts of Justice and legal firms.
  • Cultural visits examples:  Westminster Abbey and the Globe Theatre. 
  • Extra time to explore famous locations in these cities and tourist sites e.g. London Eye, Buckingham Palace or the National Gallery.

Program Dates:
Sunday 21 June - Saturday 4 July 2020
Students are welcome to travel before/after the program.

Students notified of application outcome: Friday 4 April
Payment dates will be advised in offer letter.

*Students will be provided a full refund if the program is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
**Please note: All tours advertised are run on the proviso that current travel settings from International SOS and Smart Traveller will remain the same. Deakin University constantly monitors all travel risks, including the coronavirus, and should there be any changes in risk ratings, or travel warnings, then interested students are updated and tours reviewed.

Students will be enrolled in MLT346 - Civil Law Study Tour.

Assessments requirements are:
Assessment 1: (Individual) – Attendance and participation in seminars and field visits 
Assessment 2: (Individual) – Multiple-choice quiz (paper-based, closed book and invigilated on location) 1.5 hours
Assessment 3: (Pairs) - Research essay

The subsidised program cost will be $2000.00
Please note, eligible students can apply to receive up to $6,913 from OS-Help funding to support your program. Please read the criteria carefully.

Important Information

Important to note:

  1. Students do not need to gain approval from a student adviser prior to applying for this program – eligibility will be confirmed by the International Team via Student Services.
  2. Program cost is subject to change, students will be notified of final costs when applications close.
  3. Final itinerary is subject to change and changes to this does not qualify students for a refund.
  4. This program is available to Domestic and International students.
  5. A minimum number of students is required in order for this program to run, the Deakin Business School has the right to cancel this program if this is not achieved.
  6. Students will still need to pay their Deakin Unit fee for each unit they participate in as per their normal fee arrangements.
