Program Description:



The Faculty of Business and Law have partnered with the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AustCham) to offer you the opportunity to undertake internships in Shanghai, China during Trimester 3, 2019.

You will live and work in China, gaining invaluable employment skills while immersing yourself in the local cultural life and social scene. Students will be placed at leading business in Shanghai giving students the opportunity apply skills from their degree and develop new skills.  On the ground support is provided by AustCham for the duration of your placement.

Program Costs:

There won't be a program fee for this internship program. However you will have pay a Deakin unit fee if selected to undertake the program.

Other costs you would incur if selected to undertake the program:
  • International flights to/from China
  • Accomodation
  • Airport transfers
  • Passport and visas
  • Spending money
  • Meals
  • Tuition fees for unit enrolment.
QBE comprehensive travel insurance will be provided by Deakin.

Important Information

Eligibility Criteria

Please ensure you are eligible prior to submitting an application:
  • You must be an Chinese Citizen due to visa restrictions.
  • Undertaking a course in the Faculty of Business and Law and have a WAM above 65
  • To undertake a placement, you must meet the pre-requisite of 16 completed credit points for Undergraduate students or 8 completed credit points for postgraduate students.
  • Must have space in your course for MWL303 or MWL701

Important to note:

  1. Students do not need to gain approval from a student adviser prior to applying for this program – eligibility will be confirmed by the International Team via Student     Services.
  2. Program cost is subject to change, students will be notified of final costs when applications close.
  3. Final itinerary is subject to change and changes to this or change of mind does not qualify students for a refund.
  4. This program is available to only International students.
  5. Students will still need to pay their Deakin Unit fee for each unit they participate in as per their normal fee arrangements.
