Program Description:


About the Program
Undergraduate and postgraduate students are invited to join the inaugural MAP Indonesia WIL Program in Jakarta, Indonesia run in partnership with Mitra Adiperkasa (MAP). Students will be allocated to a business within the MAP portfolio and will work with the company to apply their management knowledge and theories from their degree in a unique international context.
MAP is a leading lifestyle retailer in Indonesia with over 2,300 retail stores and a diversified portfolio of over 150 brands. Some brands within the MAP portfolio includes international brands such as Starbucks, Zara, Marks & Spencer, SOGO, SEIBU, Oshkosh B’Gosh and Reebok.

You will be supported by Deakin and MAP staff who will manage the program and also facilitate site visits, networking opportunities, social activities and free time.

Students will work in a local company for 2 weeks, creating a business report which may analyse the businesses marketing, project management, customer service or international focus.

Saturday 1 February  - Saturday 15 February

Please note that the program dates clash with the T3 2019 exam period and T2 2019 supplementary exam period. You can undertake the program only if you are not undertaking any other units in T3 2019 or don't have exams for your other T3 units.

Please note, domestic commonwealth supported students (HECS) can apply to receive up to $8149 from OS-Help funding to support your program. Please read the criteria carefully.

Unit Information

Undergraduate students can study MWL301 Team Internship and Postgraduate students - MWL703 Team Internship.

Assessment 1: (Individual) - Pre-Internship tasks (1500 words) - 15%
Assessment 2: (Individual) - Reflective Learning Journal (1500 words) - 15%
Assessment 3: (Group of 4) - Project report and team presentation (5000-6000 words) - 50%
Assessment 4: (Individual) - Post-Internship Reflection (2000 words) - 20%

Eligibility:Completion of 8 credit points (Undergraduate students) and 6 credit points (Postgraduate students) (including CPL) prior to starting placement.
This program is available to Deakin Business School students, who have space for a WIL unit/general elective.
