Program Description:
India WIL Program
About the Program
Students are invited to participate in the inaugural India WIL Program run in partnership with Amity University in India. Students will be based on Noida, India and have the opportunity to work with a business in this city which is a growing hub for the IT services industry. The program includes a cultural immersion component before the commencement of the internship, where you will be able to learn and immerse yourself in the India culture. There is NCP funding available for this program, please see ‘Cost and Funding’ section below for more information.

You will be supported by Deakin and Amity staff who will manage the program and also facilitate site visits, cultural activties, networking opportunities, social activities and free time.

Noida, India.

Students will work in a local company for 2.5 weeks, creating a business report which may analyse the businesses marketing, project management, customer service or international focus. In addition students will also participate in a 2 - 3 day cultural immersion program where you will be able to learn more about the Indian culture.

Cost and Funding
The program cost will be FREE^.
Please note, domestic commonwealth supported students (HECS) can apply to receive up to $7,998 from OS-Help funding to support your program. Please read the criteria carefully.

^Full cost of the program to students is $4,000. Eligible students will be entitled to receive a $3,000 New Colombo Plan grant and $1000 faculty subsidy to support the cost of this program. Please see below for eligibility criteria.

New Colombo Plan (NCP) grants
  • This is a NCP funded program offering 30 x $3,000 NCP grants. You must meet the eligibility criteria to apply for the grant:be an Australian citizen
  • you cannot receive a grant in a Host Location in which you have dual citizenship or residency rights;
  • be undertaking a Bachelor Degree or Bachelor Honours Degree
  • be between 18 and 28 years of age at the commencement of their program;
  • not have already commenced a period of overseas study in the same Host Location as the program;
  • not have receive more than one short-term and one Semester grant (with or without an internship) during their Australian course of study.

Undergraduate students can study MWL301 Team Internship.

Assessment 1: (Individual) - Pre-Internship tasks (1500 words) - 15%
Assessment 2: (Individual) - Reflective Learning Journal (1500 words) - 15%
Assessment 3: (Group of 4) - Project report and team presentation (5000-6000 words) - 50%
Assessment 4: (Individual) - Post-Internship Reflection (2000 words) - 20%

Eligibility:Completion of 8 credit points (including CPL) prior to starting placement.
This program is available to Deakin Business School students, who have space for a WIL unit/general elective.

  Important to note:
  • Students do not need to gain approval from a student adviser prior to applying for this program – eligibility will be confirmed by the International Team via Student Services.
  • Program cost is subject to change, students will be notified of final costs when applications close.
  • Final itinerary is subject to change and changes to this does not qualify students for a refund.
  • This program is available to Domestic and International students.
  • A minimum number of students is required in order for this program to run, the Deakin Business School has the right to cancel this program if this is not achieved.
  • Students will be provided a full refund if Deakin Business School cancels the program.
  • Students will still need to pay their Deakin Unit fee for each unit they participate in as per their normal fee arrangements.
