SWUFE Global Academy
Program

PG Business students are invited to join the SWUFE Global Academy study program in Chengdu, China. Run in partnership with Southwestern University of Finance & Economics (SWUFE) students will have the opportunity to complete a postgraduate elective with a focus on Fintech and Financial Risks. Students will be supported by SWUFE staff who will manage the program and facilitate site visits, sessions, networking opportunities and social activities.
Please note that this program is only available to students studying a postgraduate Deakin Business School degree.

Activities:
  • Lectures delivered by academics from SWUFE and overseas.
  • Site visits and opportunity to meet senior with senior professionals from industry leading companies such as State Street, Shengshi Investment Management, etc.
  • Introductory language and cultural workshops
  • Time to explore famous locations and tourist sites in this city e.g. Panda Base

Topics covered includes:
  1. Introduction to China's Financial systems.
  2. Quantitative trading and machine learning.
  3. Financial systemic risk and macroprudential regulation.
  4. Blockchain technology.

Eligibility:
  • Completion of 4 post graduate units before commencing the program
  • Enrolled in a Deakin Business School course
  • WAM above 60

Program Costs:

There is no program fee.

A $1,000 grant will be provided to each Deakin Business School student participating on the program to cover the cost of flights. (For eligibility questions please contact bl-abroad@deakin.edu.au)

Important Information

Important to note:

  1. Students do not need to gain approval from a student adviser prior to applying for this program – eligibility will be confirmed by the International Team via Student Services.
  2. Program cost is subject to change, students will be notified of final costs when applications close.
  3. Final itinerary is subject to change and changes to this does not qualify students for a refund.
  4. This program is available to Domestic and International students.
  5. A minimum number of students is required in order for this program to run, the Deakin Business School has the right to cancel this program if this is not achieved.
  6. Students will still need to pay their Deakin Unit fee for each unit they participate in as per their normal fee arrangements.
