Program Description:


FBL China Discover SWUFE

UG Business students are invited to join SWUFE Brand Management study program in Chengdu, China. Run in partnership with Southwestern University of Finance & Economics (SWUFE) students will have the opportunity to complete MMK280 with a focus on brand management in China and Australia. Students will travel in a group and will be supported by Deakin and SWUFE staff who will manage the program and facilitate site visits, sessions, networking opportunities and social activities.

  • Introductory language and cultural workshop
  • Time to explore famous locations and tourist sites in this city.

Program Dates:
Saturday 15 June - Saturday 29 June 2019
Students are welcome to continue travelling after the program concludes.

Students will be enrolled in a tour version of MMT280 - Brand Management 

Assessment 1 -  (Group 2 - 3) Written assignment (3500 words)  – 40%
Assessment 2 - (Group 2 – 3 from Assessment 1) Oral Presentation (20 minutes)  - 20%
Assessment 3 - (Individual) Written assignment (3500 words) - 40%

  1. Completion MMK277 or MMK101 prior to starting program.

Program Costs:

The program cost will be $1000^.
Please note, domestic commonwealth supported students (HECS) can apply to receive up to $8,149 from OS-Help funding to support your program. Please read the criteria carefully.

^Full cost of the program to students is $4,000. Eligible students will be entitled to receive a $3,000 New Colombo Plan grant to support the cost of this program. Please see below for eligibility criteria.

New Colombo Plan (NCP) grants
This is a NCP funded program offering 15 x $3,000 NCP grants. You must meet the eligibility criteria to apply for the grant:
  • be an Australian citizen
  • you cannot receive a grant in a Host Location in which you have dual citizenship or residency rights;
  • be undertaking a Bachelor Degree or Bachelor Honours Degree
  • be between 18 and 28 years of age at the commencement of their program;
  • not have already commenced a period of overseas study in the same Host Location as the program;
  • not have receive more than one short-term and one Semester grant (with or without an internship) during their Australian course of study.

  • International return airfares departing and returning to Melbourne (other locations are possible but may incur additional costs).

  • Tuition fees for unit enrolment. 

Important Information

Important to note:

  1. Students do not need to gain approval from a student adviser prior to applying for this program – eligibility will be confirmed by the International Team via Student Services.
  2. Program cost is subject to change, students will be notified of final costs when applications close.
  3. Final itinerary is subject to change and changes to this does not qualify students for a refund.
  4. This program is available to Domestic and International students.
  5. A minimum number of students is required in order for this program to run, the Deakin Business School has the right to cancel this program if this is not achieved.
  6. Students will still need to pay their Deakin Unit fee for each unit they participate in as per their normal fee arrangements.
