WHU European MBA Summer Program 2018 - Session 1

About the program:
Deakin MBA students are invited to participate in a Short Term Partner Program traveling to Vallendar, Germany and study "The Changing Environment for International Business in Europe".
Hosted by WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, the program will run in two separate sessions in May 2018. Students can select either session.
The program will include visits to two of Germany’s major international companies and to either the European Central Bank or the German Central Bank and participate in the following cultural activities and social events:
- Welcome and farewell dinners
- Visit to a medieval castle
- Guided city tour of Koblenz
- Boat tour along the Rhine
- Wine tasting and tour.
Vallendar in Germany is located in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, a 65km stretch of the 1,230km international Rhine River. With its castles, historic towns, towering vineyards, and steep slopes, this section of the river is a UNESCO world heritage site. The nearest city to Vallendar, Koblenz is the third biggest city in the state of Rheinland-Palatinate, and is situated on the banks of the both the Rhine and the Mosel rivers. Vallendar and Koblenz have easy rail & road connections, making both day and weekend trips easy to organise. Visit the major nearby cities Düsseldorf, Cologne, and Frankfurt, or take a trip down the Mosel to discover pretty towns and villages dotted along the banks. Germany and fairytale castles go hand in hand, and 40 historic castles punctuate the Rhine Gorge hilltops. Soak up medieval history and discover truly stunning scenery with a selection of the top castles in the area.
The Changing Environment for International Business in Europe
This program has been assessed as an equivalent to MPM735 - International Business Management for 1 Deakin credit point.
Directed by Professor Dr. Michael Frenkel, focusing on the following topics:
- European Integration: The Single European Market of the EU and European Monetary Union
- Doing Business in Eastern Europe
- Restructuring Companies in Transition Economies
- Innovation Strategies of European Companies
- European Marketing
- The Environment of Mergers and Acquisitions: European Competition Policies
- European Financial Markets
The course is designed for MBA students interested in International Business, Finance and Corporate Strategy.The language of instruction is English. The program comprises 48 academic hours plus around 22 contact hours of a cultural program (equivalent to two credits of a 14-week term). Assessment and assignments will be assessed by WHU. Students will work on group projects and will sit a final exam.
MBA and MBA/Leadership students are welcome to apply.
You will pay the program fee of 850 Euro to WHU which will include:

Additional costs for you will be your flights, spending money, meals that are not covered and any other related costs to your travels. This is an Exchange program meaning you will pay a unit fee to Deakin University.
