The internship training program in Vietnam developed by FPT University is aimed to provide participants essential knowledge and experience in both corporate and university environment. The purposes of this program are:
Gain exposure to real-world problems and issues that perhaps are not found in textbooks.
Evaluate specific careers prior to committing to full-time employment—a "try before you buy" type experience.
Improving capability of communicating with people from different cultural backgrounds
Cultivate adaptability and creativity in a dynamic world
Ease transition from being a student to entering the workforce
Have personal growth experiences and exposure to different job opportunities
Increase marketability to employers
Working Hours: 5 days from Monday-Friday with 8 hours per day.
Working hours in Hanoi office: 8:30-17:30 ( Lunch break : 12:00-13:00)
Working hours in Ho Chi Minh office: 8.00-17.00 ( Lunch break : 12:00-13:00)
Students also have the opportunity to extend their Vietnam experience by participating in a two week study tour. This study tour will focus on the fundamentals of the Internet of Things (IoT) prior to the internship program. Program fees include:
Accommodation in an on-campus dormitory - single room is provided
Airport pick-up and drop-off
Orientations provided by FPT university
Training documents, other relevant handouts and enrichment program
Travel insurance for the length of the program plus a maximum of 10 days leisure travel either immediately before or after the study component
Program fees do not include:
Passport and Visa fees
New Colombo Plan Funding
This is a New Colombo Plan project, funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. They have provided 15 mobility grants* of AU$2500 each.
A funded student participating in a Mobility Project must meet the following eligibility requirements:
be an Australian citizen;
students cannot receive a Student Grant to undertake a Mobility Project in a Host Location in which they have dual citizenship or residency rights, or in which they have previously been a citizen or permanent resident;
be enrolled in an on shore campus of an Australian University throughout the duration of the Mobility Project; and
be undertaking a Bachelor Degree, Bachelor Honours Degree or Concurrent Diploma at the commencement of their Mobility Project.
At least seventy percent of NCP participants must be under the age of 28.
Selection of students for grants will be carried out by the faculty, and the Global Mobility team will administer the grants. See here for full eligibility details.
All NCP funded students must agree to participate in NCP promotion such as attending events while in country and promoting via social media e.g. #NewColomboPlan
OS-Help Loans are available for domestic students for up to $7764 to help fund their participation in the program. The purpose of OS-HELP is to assist students with a range of expenses, such as airfares and accommodation. Further information on eligibility, please follow the link for OS-Help. Please note that the OS Help loan can take up to 4 weeks to process and payment deadlines must be met regardless of the status of your loan.
Important to note
A minimum number of students is required for the program to run and places are limited.
Travel insurance is provided by Deakin for the length of the program plus 10 leisure days, students travelling beyond the program dates may need to pay for additional coverage.
Once accepted on the program students must pay a non-refundable deposit to confirm their spot.
Students are reminded to apply for Deakin Travel Insurance as soon as they have been accepted into the program to cover any unexpected withdrawals or costs that are incurred as refunds may not be available.
Program Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your position on this program cancellation fees will apply. A cancellation will only be effective when we receive written confirmation of the cancellation.
Where written notification of the cancellation is received, the cancellation charges are as follows:
Before deposit deadline: No cancellation fees apply
After deposit deadline: Loss of $500 deposit
After deposit deadline and before final payment: Loss of $500 deposit, along with any non-recoverable program fees are payable (i.e.: supplement accommodation deposits, transport, travel costs)
After final payment deadline: No refund on any program fees
*Universities cannot provide the same Student with more than one New Colombo Plan Short-term Grant and/or more than one New Colombo Plan Semester Grant (with or without an Internship Grant) during their undergraduate studiesSaveSave
