About:

German Sports SchoolThe German Sport University Cologne is no ordinary university. It is the only university in Germany that is dedicated exclusively to the world of sport and exercise science. While sport and exercise science courses are available alongside many other subjects at other universities, the situation in Cologne is unique: all aspects of the exciting field of sport and exercise science are studied in detail at 19 institutes, four affiliate institutes and five transfer centres.

This expertise concentrated in one location allows for a unique interdisciplinary approach and provides the opportunity to examine complex social topics from various perspectives of sport and exercise science. The spectrum ranges from health to biomechanics and physiology, but also economic, historical and ethical considerations.

Recommended Programs:

  • Exercise and Sport Science and or Sports Management.
  • Business

Did you know?

The Neues Kino Gabriel is most likely the oldest cinema in the world. It has existed since 1906 and it’s been open ever since. The Guinness Book of World Records names the Pionier Cinema in the Polish Szczecin as the oldest cinema, however it wasn’t established until 1907.

About Cologne

Magdeburg
Cologne (Köln) offers a mother lode of attractions, led by its famous cathedral whose filigree twin spires dominate the skyline. The city’s museum landscape is especially strong when it comes to art but also has something in store for fans of chocolate, sports and even Roman history. Cologne's people are known for their liberalism and joie de vivre; it’s easy to have a good time with them in the beer halls of the Altstadt or during Carnival.Cologne is like a living textbook on history and architecture: drifting about town you’ll stumble upon an ancient Roman wall, medieval churches galore, nondescript postwar buildings, avant-garde structures and a new postmodern quarter right on the Rhine.

Germany’s fourth-largest city was founded by the Romans in 38 BC and given the lofty name Colonia Claudia Ara Aggripinensium. It grew into a major trading centre, a tradition solidified in the Middle Ages and upheld today. (source)

About Germany

Germany is one of the most influential European nations culturally, and one of the world's main economic powers. Known around the world for its precision engineering and high-tech products, it is equally admired by visitors for its old-world charm and "Gemütlichkeit" (coziness). If you have perceptions of Germany as simply homogeneous, it will surprise you with its many historical regions and local diversity.
