Study abroad programs are available if your home university does not have an exchange agreement with Deakin or an exchange place is not available. Study abroad students can study for a trimester or a full academic year at Deakin, and are normally required to pay upfront tuition fees to Deakin.
Study Load: 4 credit points per trimester
Deakin University uses a trimester system, which is equivalent in course load and duration to the previous semester system. Two trimesters are still equal to a full academic year.
Academic entry requirements
Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent) in your home country must meet the minimum requirements for entry to an award course of the University.

We know that it can be stressful to move to the other side of the world and study at a new university so Deakin offers a Welcome Event to help you settle in. This event, for exchange and study abroad students, is designed specially to make the transition into Australian culture and university life as smooth and enjoyable as possible. It will also be a great opportunity to meet other students.

Overseas Student Health Cover
The Australian Government requires all international students (and any dependants accompanying them) to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) The health cover provides for medical and hospital care within Australia from the date of students' arrival until the end of their studies in Australia. It is important to ensure you have continuous coverage of health insurance. If you allow your membership to lapse you will not be eligible to be reimbursed for any medical costs incurred during the lapsed period.
