Program Description:


FBL Euro Business Program

'Completing this study tour has proven to be a valuable experience for my degree and professional career. I would highly recommend every student complete at least one abroad unit.'

IMPORTANT NOTE: Given the current situation with the coronavirus, Deakin has decided to ban all student and staff travel overseas until the 30th of April to mitigate any associated risks. It is unclear what the policy might be after April and therefore we are unable to accept formal applications for this program. We will only accept Expression of Interest at this stage and will communicate with you as things unfold.

Combining insightful lectures, corporate visits and cultural activities, the program is open to undergraduate students.Teaching will be carried out by the ESSCA research staff and adjunct professors. Topics will revolve around:
  • The French culture
  • Doing Business in Europe – implications between the East and the West
  • Intercultural Communication 
Students will travel in a group and will be supported by Deakin and ESSCA staff who will manage the program and facilitate site visits, lecturers and social activities.

Paris – France and Budapest – Hungary
  • Corporate visits examples: IBM, NCR & L'Oreal.
  • Cultural visits examples: Le Musée du Parfum, Paris City tour & Louvre Museum
  • Extra time to explore famous locations in these cities and tourist sites e.g. Eiffel Tower, Versailles and Budapest sightseeing tour.

Program Dates:
Saturday 20 June - Saturday 4 July 2020 
Students are welcome to travel before/after the program.

Applications close: Sunday 22 March
Students notified of application outcome: Friday 4 April
Payment dates will be advised in offer letter.

*Students will be provided a full refund if the program is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
**Please note: All tours advertised are run on the proviso that current travel settings from International SOS and Smart Traveller will remain the same. Deakin University constantly monitors all travel risks, including the coronavirus, and should there be any changes in risk ratings, or travel warnings, then interested students are updated and tours reviewed.

Students will enrol in ESSCA unit MXP302 - Understanding European Business Environment.
Assessments include a written exam plus presentations assignments throughout the program.

  1. M300.1 Students studying a marketing major can select this subject as a major elective unit.
  2. M300.2 and all other Deakin Business School students will select this unit as a general elective.

The subsidised program cost will be $1800.00
Please note, eligible students can apply to receive up to $6,913 from OS-Help funding to support your program. Please read the criteria carefully.

Important to note:

  1. Students do not need to gain approval from a student adviser prior to applying for this program – eligibility will be confirmed by the International Team via Student Services.
  2. Program cost is subject to change, students will be notified of final costs when applications close.
  3. Final itinerary is subject to change and changes to this does not qualify students for a refund.
  4. This program is available to Domestic and International students.
  5. A minimum number of students is required in order for this program to run, the Deakin Business School has the right to cancel this program if this is not achieved.
  6. Students will still need to pay their Deakin Unit fee for each unit they participate in as per their normal fee arrangements.
