Deakin University has a passion for international education, and we invite
you to participate in our Summer School program!

You will study unit AIX290 - Australia Today at the Melbourne Burwood campus. This short program is designed to provide an insight into historical and contemporary elements of Australian society. Students will delve into the
country's history, politics, culture, landscape, settlement and indigenous
cultures.

Destination: Melbourne Burwood Campusdeakin

The program is based at our Melbourne Burwood Campus, Deakin's largest campus,
which has modern architecture and facilities.
This includes the motion capture animation studio, excellent learning facilities
on campus healthcare services and gym. The campus sits alongside parkland,
which is great for cycling and walks whilst enjoying the Melbourne summer.


Easily accessible to public transport, the campus is located a short trip
from the city central business direct, it offers the perfect balance between city lifestyle
and suburban comfort. Also, not far away from Melbourne beaches
and the mountains of the Dandenong Ranges.

 

Credit Information

Academic Info
The Australia Studies Summer School offers you an insight into the country's history, politics, culture, economy and international relations.  It provides an international perspective on diversity and difference in Australia society, through studies of popular culture, histories, settlement, landscape and people.

The Program will be delivered through an exciting mix of academic-led cultural field trips and deeply engaging classroom learning.

Class times:
Students are expected to be in class or studying during the following times: 10am to 5pm on most days. Field trip days will begin earlier depending on the mode of transport and location.

Assessment 1 (Individual) - Class Exercise (1000 words) - 25%

Assessment 2 (Individual) - Report (1000 words) - 25%

Assessment 3 (Individual) - Essay (2000 words) - 50%

The total cost of the program is AUD $4,775. Full Payment is due by Friday 8th December.
Your fees include:

  • Airport transfers from Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport upon arrival
  • Welcome dinner in a vibrant location in Melbourne
  • Visits to Melbourne Immigration Museum, NGV, Shrine of Remembrance and more.
  • Learn to Surf lesson on an Australian beautiful surf beach

Fees do not include flights, the social program, food and personal expenses. Participants are responsible for their own visa requirements.
