Important Resources

Information Sessions

If you plan to submit an application for a Deakin Abroad program it's compulsory to attend an information session. In the session you will learn about application deadlines, eligibility, the different programs we offer, available funding and much more. It's the first step in your Deakin Abroad experience.

Cost and Funding Opportunities

  • The New Colombo Plan is a Government initiative that supports Australian undergraduate students to study and undertake internships in the Indo-Pacific region, with credit towards your degree.
  • The Commonwealth Government offers OS-HELP loans to students who are about to undertake some of their study overseas on a credit bearing program.
  • If you are eligible for Austudy or Youth Allowance and are attending a trimester exchange, faculty-led or Deakin-approved intensive program, your payments will continue while you are overseas. You must have a full-time study load for the year to be eligible for Centrelink payments.

International SOS

Deakin has partnered with International SOS, to provide you with medical support, security advice and risk management training before your travel. While travelling you should contact International SOS for any emergency travel assistance. International SOS is your first point of contact for any non-emergency, health and security related enquiries.

This service is available to all students on approved international programs.

Deakin International Travel Insurance

Deakin provides travel insurance that covers medical and additional expenses as a result of injury or illness, emergency travel assistance, loss of baggage, loss of personal effects, personal liability, loss of deposits and additional travel expenses while on approved international study-related travel.
